Handling 404 Errors for a Migrated Blog by mi hermano, Joshua, displays my brother’s particular genius and allows the entire world to see it not only in the ColdFusion Developer’s Journal e-zine, but in the printed magazine as well.

Congratulations, Josh! Wahoo!

Ohio was really great. I learned tons about Laotian culture. Columbus is a beautiful city. The city feels nowhere near 1.7 million people. It is so spread out, it feels like a suburb in amidst itself.

I learned to make and wrap eggrolls, which was invariably exciting. No more running out to buy eggrolls - I’m making my own!

Yup, I’m writing from a Mac Mini in the awesome cube Apple Store on 5th and 59th. I’m checking out my awesome quad-core processor tower that I am going to purchase ever so soon. I’ll post a picture in a moment of the photo I took of the exterior with the cameraphone.

See, Josh! I told you I’d blog it. Rock on, having a fabulous time. Everyone needs to see this store. It’s a piece of art.

I only had 172 entries posted on my old blog. I was sifting through some of the older ones and realized the minor task of cleanup ahead of me. It is not quite as cumbersome as I earlier thought.

In sifting through, I thought - how funny some of these older entries really are. Many will not survive my mental sieve of cleanup. The world will be a better place without much of it.

The monumental task will begin sometime in the next three weeks, as I am leaving town for a while. I will be sure to update my flickr often, so stay tuned. Be there, or be square.

I received my second diploma in the mail today - Web Information Technology. There was much rejoicing. I am looking forward to doing some more hardcore web development in the future. Now that my blog is powered with PHP, perhaps I will do some PHP development instead of ColdFusion.

I also received a certificate for Visual Basic programming. I’m not sure how that qualifies for anything, but I had the qualifications for it so I figured I might as well apply for it. You can never have too many certifications, right? Right.

Speaking of PHP blogs, I absolutely adore this web interface versus my bane of iBlog. I still have got to import all of my old posts. It will get done soon enough.

dotmac expires in less than a month.

I definitely am not renewing, because I can’t do this iBloggingness anymore, and I can live with the three hundred other different email addresses that I have, none of which get spam like this dotmac does. Really, there is no other reason for me to keep it. Disk storage, sure, but I haven’t used that in probably over a year (excepting HTML storage).

Have not yet purchased alternative hosting or alternative blogging engine. Expect intermittent service as of July 18. Update your bookmarks to www.neatlysliced.com if they are pointing to homepage.mac.com, because when I lose my dotmac, www.neatlysliced.com will still be alive. It’s a redirect right now anyway, so embrace it.

The nice fellas at hostmysite.com posted a comment suggesting their hosting service. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I have less than a month to figure it out. It’ll get done.

My brother roofed his house this weekend and a buncha us helped out.

I’ve never roofed before, and I had loads of fun, even though I’m terrified of heights. He has a simple roof, but it’s a moderately steep pitch so it was a bit frightening - especially after it rained and the shingles were so slick. I did a lot of cleanup and passed shingles down. I have a lot more respect for roofers now! It’s killer on the ankles to be standing up there - if you have the moxy to stand at all.

Help your friends out! When they ask you to help roof their house, go help them! It’s a party and a half, and good, hard work never hurt anybody. Just don’t fall off the roof.

Good times, overall. Nice roof, Josh!

PS - Fibreglass splinters in the hands: ouch!
