Auditorium: Captivating Flash Music Game

Flash 5 Comments »

This game is so beautiful! It reminds me a touch of the Enigmo iPhone game in that you have colored droplets that you have to redirect to enter their appropriate receptacle. Unlike Enigmo, Auditorium’s droplets begin as white and change color based on their entry of circles on the map.
level22
Their receptacles are audio containers that begin playing beautiful piano and string arrangements upon landing. It’s really simple to begin with, but as you progress it grows quite complicated.
level36
Of course, the whole experience is created by the multisensory tickling – the combination of physics, color, and music. It’s odd how fulfilling redirecting droplets to little container can feel.

It’s only a preview of the full game which is to come, but it’s captivating enough in its short demo length. Play Auditorium now.

Paint By Number

Flash No Comments »

I don’t have any Tracy Chapman albums, but her new site has me sitting happily listening to her tunes while I color the flash world the developers built.

Switch colors in the upper-right hand corner. Then click in the outlined portions to fill that area with your selected color. It’s a digital paint by number! I haven’t had this much fun since grade school’s Van Gogh by numbers.

An excellent facet I appreciate in the elastic webby world in which we web developers should live: maximize your screen! New portions of the world are revealed as you increase your window size, and each page of the site features a different scene to paint. This is a fantastic usage of flash in a media based site: sparse enough to be unobtrusive to the information you want to gather, engaging enough to keep the user on the site, and clever enough to bring users back for another round. A brilliant marketing, design, and development campaign.

I don’t feel like having a category called “Silly Flash Games that are Addicting and Must Be Spread to the Entire World”, so I’m putting this under “Flash” and “Games”.

Update: As of April 6, 2008, the link is broken. Please leave a comment if you find a new location for it.

link – dontclick.it – a-maz-ing flashness

Flash, Slivers No Comments »

Hello, is this not an awesome site? Could its ActionScript be any cooler?

No, no I don’t think it could be. I think that if the Flash class in which I am currently enrolled could teach me this incrediblosity, I would be singing in the streets and dancing a jig.

I’m newly in love with del.icio.us, and I found dontclick.it via there. Love love love delicious, although I’m slowly comparing it to digg to see if I ought to switch. Is one better than the other? Which way should I go?

I got bored.

Flash 5 on the machines. This is the sad, sad product of five minutes of boredom. I watched it for about twenty minutes, chuckling to myself, saying along “OH NO MY HEAD… better!” Sad.
