While watching The History Channel, I saw an alert in the corner of the screen informing me that if I text “1000″ to HISTRY (447879), I could get “This Day In History” texted to me every day. “Awesome,” I think. “I love useless trivia.” I then text “1000″ to HISTRY (447879).
Much to my chagrin, The History Channel replies in a rather uncouth manner: Access Denied!
I think, “Well, perhaps other mobile alerts are functioning properly.” All of The History Channel’s mobile alerts are listed on their site. I try the WWII one, because hey, that was a weird time in the history of the world. I receive the same error.
I try to report this to The History Channel, only to discover that their feedback form is not functioning at this time.
Ladies and gentleman, woe to me. Would anyone be so kind so as to inform The History Channel of this malady?
Update: As of February 10, 2008, the problem is resolved; I have been receiving my daily dose of history. And there was much rejoicing (yay).

Like you, I was excited about the concept of receiving daily mobile alerts from the History Channel’s “This Day in History”, and I subscribed. For about 2 months I did receive the trivia (though not always “daily”. Sometimes a day or two passed without receiving an alert). Therefore, I was not particularly concerned when suddenly, about 2 months ago, I did not receive my usual trivia alert for one, then 2, then 3 days…but DID become suspicious when an entire week passed without an alert. After 3 weeks of this, I tried to subscribe again, and it DID accept my subscription, but since then, I have never received an alert. I tried to contact them about the issue, only to find that their “contact form” is a only a pull-down menu of PREVIOUSLY asked questions, and naturally, they have NO selection for Mobile Alerts of any kind. Therefore, their “feedback/contact us” form is useless.
Okay, so why am I so disappointed to lose something that I only had going for about 6-7 weeks? Because I enjoyed it!! I looked forward to it, and my husband loved to hear me tell me the trivia of the day, and he is disappointed as well. So, all around, I guess we kind of feel rather “gypped”.
