Thanks for the note! I hear you, bro. When you get on that 11th hour, everything starts to look the same, and the apathy level increases.

I am glad we are in agreement. My expressions of criticism are not so much geared at "you", but more in frustration over the seeming randomness of the winners - particularly June's contest, where the judges explicitly remarked their inability to pinpoint the reasons why the winning entry deserved its rank.

This competition, much like each entrant, is a work in progress. With each iteration, these diamonds in the rough will shine more brilliantly. I thus am striving to focus on what may be gleaned from other entries and my own findings based off of my own entry, rather than that status of being the winning entrant.

Jennifer -

Nice work on your entry as well. I've enjoyed reading your observations on the whole css off experience, starting with the first one.

I agree with you that the search box on mine looks silly in safari (and the dots). The reasons I left this alone:

First, I thought that in the .psd that they gave out, they made a big deal about the border on focus, so I went for it. Safari is pretty bad about styling form elements in general, so I knew it was going to be a hassle. Probably, were this a real site, I would have either ditched it, or went with some (more) javascript to fix remove the dumb looking stuff in safari.

Second, 24 hours! By the time that I was trying to work out browser quirks, I was already lacking sleep or food of any kind. But, that's part of the fun with this contest.

Re your comments about the spacing, I totally agree. I saw that post, and thought my entry was toast. They did make a good point though, and I'm sure they will give vertical spacing a bigger priority next time.

Anyway, keep up the good work(:
